Biography
Mihaela Lambru is a Professor of Public Policy, Organisations and Sociology of the Nongovernmental Sector at the University of Bucharest’s Faculty of Sociology and Social Work. From 2018 to 2021, she served as a research consultant at EMES on the EMPOWER-SE project (Empowering the next generation of social enterprise scholars). She also consulted for the European Research Institute on Cooperative and Social Enterprise on the Romanian country report for the report series ‘Social enterprises and their Ecosystems in Europe.’
Aside from her extensive research experience, she has previously held various executive and program management positions in the development sector within Romania, building connections between civil society and the public sector. This work also involved developing programs to facilitate social opportunities and public representation for marginalised minorities. She has also worked internationally in the development sector, including as a consultant for UNICEF, UNDP and the World Bank.
Mihaela holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Bucharest, a D.E.A. (Master) in Sociology from the Sorbonne, and a BA in Sociology from the University of Bucharest.
