Dr. Mary O’Shaughnessy is a lecturer with the Department of Food Business and Development at Cork University Business School.

Her research interests include sustainable rural development and community led social entrepreneurship. She is a board member of the EMES International Research Network on social enterprises (www.emes.net), director of Micro Finance Ireland and was recently appointed to the national Social Enterprise Task force and national social enterprise policy advisory group to Ireland’s Department of Rural and community Development.

She is currently the PI on two Marie Sklodowska – Curie Research Projects on the topic of Co-operative and Sustainable Rural Development and Rural Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation for Rural/Regional Development. She was and recently appointed Short Term Scientific Mission Manager (STSM) to the COST Action Empowering the next generation of social enterprise scholars. In 2016 she was appointed country moderator by DG EMPL to complete a mapping study of social enterprises.
