Dr. Fakhrul Anwar Zainol currently serves as the Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurship at Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) and as a faculty member within the Business Management and Accountancy Department. He is also the Secretary-General of the Cambridge Association of Malaysian Entrepreneurial Advisers (CAME).
His areas of research expertise include entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial orientation, business strategies, family business and poverty eradication.
He is a professional business coach for small business owners and managers, helping them grow and develop their enterprises. He coaches in a wide variety of industries, including manufacturing, retail sales, healthcare, services and manufacturing-related services, and has practiced in functional areas such as sales, marketing, and operations. His focus with business owners has been to facilitate creating their business vision and the development of strategies to fulfil that vision. Prior to becoming an academic, he also gathered years of experience in development banking with Bank Pembangunan, Infrastruktur Malaysia, and SME Bank Bhd. His duties included marketing, evaluating project viability, supervising project implementation, undertaking loan collection, credit control, and rehabilitating problematic projects. In addition, he was involved in entrepreneurial trainings which sought to channel and share knowledge in various aspects of business in order to develop viable and competitive Bumiputera entrepreneurs (particularly within SMEs).
He holds a Bachelor Degree in Accountancy (B. Acc) as well as a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), and completed his Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) at the University of Newcastle, Australia. He received his formal organisational entrepreneurship training from Judge Business School at the University of Cambridge (UK) and the MAUS Institute in Sydney, Australia.
