Biography
Ermanno Tortia is an Associate Professor at the University of Trento. His research focuses on institutional theory and institutional analysis (theoretical and empirical), the theory of the firm, and personnel economics and HRM, all as applied to third sector organisations (non-profit organizations and social enterprises) and co-operative enterprises. He also studied the role of third sector organisations in local development.
Ermanno has authored and co-authored various empirical studies dealing with the economics of happiness, job satisfaction, organisational justice, worker motivation, relationships among complex sets of organisational practices, and the institutionalist approach to the study of social economy organisations. He was previously a visiting fellow at the University of Stirling’s School of Applied Social Science. He is also a member of the scientific committee of JEOD, the Journal of Etrepreneurial and Organizational Diversity, and is a member of the faculty board program of the DELoS (Development Economics and Local Systems) PhD program at the University of Trento’s School of Social Sciences. He is also a member of the Scientific Commission for the Social and Solidarity Economy at CIRIEC (Centre International de Recherches et d’Information sur l’Economie Publique, Sociale et Coopérative).
