Elise Leclerc

A former academic of English Linguistics at La Sorbonne Nouvelle after her Agrégation Externe, Elise co-founded and currently heads the Social and Environmental Impact Assessment Lab at ESSEC Business School. In 2002 Elise completed a Master in European Affairs and moved to Dublin where she managed the Intel Foundation/MIT Media Lab Computer Clubhouse (a digital learning hub for hard-to-reach teenagers), which sparked her interest in social tech and emerging technologies. She then moved to London where she worked for Partners for Change Ethiopia, an Ethiopian NGO, Open-City, an architecture education charity, and the Paul Hamlyn Foundation/Mental Health Foundation. There she worked on a research programme focusing on assessing impact around early intervention and improving the mental health of vulnerable teenagers. She also led the Innovation Labs’ technology-related project with Comic Relief and Nominet Trust. She then worked on impact assessment for education charity Teaching Leaders as Programmes Associate Director before moving to Madeira Interactive Technologies Institute where was Executive Director and Vice President of the Board, with a specific interest in impact assessment, social tech in Europe and Africa.

In 2018 she started a new position at ESSEC Business School in Paris, where she is currently Director of the Social and Environmental Impact Assessment Lab. She has also been an Executive PhD candidate at Paris Dauphine-PSL since 2023.  She volunteers as a member of the committee for the Impact Investment Label ‘Finansol’ run by the FAIR Association and on the scientific committee of  the annual Marseilles Health Symposium.

She is the co-author of ‘La Mesure d’Impact‘ published by Dunod Editions.
