Abstract
The debate currently open in relation to the maintenance of the called welfare state, highlights the citizen’s concern regarding the destiny of public resources and their use with enforceable levels of efficiency, effectiveness and excellence, the cost of services and the degree of transparency they are managed. Sustainable development aims promulgated by the United Nations place a high value on the concepts of efficiency and transparency in the accountability of the institutions. In this framework, management indicators are configured as a tool of special relevance. In this article, we study the assessment that a group of citizens and public managers give to the battery of indicators proposed by Transparency International Spain, to conclude on transparency in town halls, analyzing the case of a local entity in the province of Jaén.
