Subject

The Estonian Social Enterprise Monitor 2021-2022 is a survey on social entrepreneurship in Estonia. Its aim is to provide decision-makers in government, the business sector, the research community and civil society with data on the Estonian social enterprise ecosystem. It will help to better understand the potential and challenges of social entrepreneurship, enable evidence-based policy making and better plan financial and human resources for social entrepreneurship and non-financial support.

Abstract

The first monitoring exercise in Estonia was carried out in 2020-2021, and the two-year reviews will provide an opportunity to assess the overall dynamics of the sector in the longer term. Compared to last year’s survey, the number of participating countries has increased from eight to twenty-four. Estonia’s social entrepreneurship landscape has become more and more complete and broader over the years. Social enterprises are receiving more attention in the context of entrepreneurship competitions and accelerators.
